Truth and Error
Truth and error are mutually exclusive. There is no error in truth, and truth mixed with error is still error. All truth is from Jehovah who is “a God of truth” (Deut. 32:4). Whether it be Biblical truth, scientific truth (anything not true is not science), mathematical truth, or historical truth, all truth comes from and is preserved by the God of truth. The Son of God, Jesus Christ, is called the Truth (John 14:6), the Holy Spirit is termed “the Spirit of Truth” (John 16:13), and God’s Word is said to be truth (John 17:17). All truth emanates from these common divine sources. Truth did not originate in man and is not found in man.
In our day absolute truth is denied, while the errors and lies of men are believed. The Word of God is being set aside as the outdated opinions of ancient men, and so-called scientific studies of men are hailed as truth even though their conclusions will be proven to be erroneous by new discoveries within a few years. The sad thing is that men continue to believe as truth everything advocates of such ideas later renounce as error. What is true never becomes untrue; it is absolute. Truth never needs to be corrected by new studies.
Because they are mutually exclusive, truth and error will ever be in conflict. Truth is content simply to refute error and defeat it. It does not seek to destroy those who advocate error but to convert them from it. Error is not so kind; it cannot meet and refute the arguments of truth. Therefore, error must seek to silence truth at all costs, even to the destruction of those who proclaim the truth. That this fact is universal and timeless may be observed in the numerous conflicts between truth and error in our society and world this very day.
